PE and Sports Funding

The additional funding for sport in primary schools is given to help improve the quality of PE provision in schools and to help children to make healthy choices.

It is funded by the Department for Education and for this academic year we will receive £18,370.

At Bispham Drive we want to ensure children understand the contribution that physical exercise makes to a healthy life.  To support this we have introduced lessons at the start of each new P.E. strand which theory and how this particular activity will help them stay healthy.

Surveys of children in the school tell us that Bispham pupils already take part in a large number of sports outside school.  So, we use the funding largely to expand the range of sports that the children can try, led by specialist coaches and sourced as locally as we can.   This means that if children want to continue with a new sport it will be relatively easy for them to do so. We will continue with the ever popular Commando Joe programme which we now deliver ourselves using their resources.
